Little Rock Family Law Lawyer
Overview
As a father of two young children, I am a firm believer that both parents have a fundamental right to have a meaningful and lasting role in our children's development. More importantly, however, and especially applicable to the practice of family law, the best interests of our children must always take precedent. At Robertson, Oswalt & Associates, I use my life experiences and legal experiences, to guide my clients through the intricate and unpredictable nature of a modern-day family law case.

Further, as the fundamental right to maintain and grow familial relationships does not end at death, I believe it is imperative to establish a proper plan for the distribution of one's assets after their passing, in order to provide protection, assurance, and comfort to loved ones left behind. Whether by a simple will or more complex estate planning, I assist my clients in making sure their assets are distributed by the method they desire and to the people they choose.
In addition to assisting clients in the planning of their estate and the protection of their familial relationships, I also represent clients whose financial struggles leave them with no other option than bankruptcy. At Robertson, Oswalt & Associates, I use my knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code to help give people facing garnishments, repossessions, foreclosures, and rising credit card and medical debt a fresh start.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
