Overview

Christopher McDonald (Chris) is a 1991 graduate of the University of Richmond School of Law. Prior to law school, Chris attended and graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1988 where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Chris has been able use his business and accounting background in his law practice to assist clients in structuring their business operations, acquisitions and handling the day to day matters that business owners customarily face.

Chris began his legal career in 1991 after being admitted to the Virginia State Bar. Chris initially served as law clerk to The Honorable William R. Shelton, Chief Judge of the Chesterfield Circuit Court before making use of his litigation skills in private practice. When Chris began private practice he considered himself to be a general practitioner, handling a wide breadth of legal matters for his clients. In this day of specialization among legal professionals, Chris has maintained his general practice and continues to offer his knowledge and skills to clients in many different areas of law. Chris maintains a vibrant litigation practice representing clients in a full range of civil matters including business and contract disputes, real estate litigation, and a full range of domestic relations issues including divorce, support, custody and visitation. In addition, Chris continues to represent clients in non-litigation matters such as incorporating or organizing new businesses, business acquisitions, commercial real estate transactions and estate planning including the preparation of Wills and Trusts for his clients.

Chris is admitted to practice before all Virginia State Courts, and has represented clients in each level of the Commonwealth's judicial system. Chris is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Bar Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Richmond Bar Association and the Henrico County Bar Association.

Outside of his legal work, Chris enjoys spending time with his family and cultivating relationships both personal and professional. He is actively involved with several charitable organizations. During whatever free time Chris can muster, he can often be found cruising the back roads of the Commonwealth on his Harley-Davidson.
