Dale Schwartz (1940-2021)
With the recent passing of Dale M. Schwartz, the Georgia legal community lost one of its great champions. Founding Partner of Schwartz-Posel Immigration Law Group, and previously at Troutman-Sanders, Schwartz helped clients in Georgia and throughout the world with immigration needs, including employment visas, family-based permanent residence applications, marriage-based green card petitions, bona fide asylum claims, and EB5 Investor visas. A graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, Schwartz was admitted to the bars of the US Supreme Court and the Supreme Court of Georgia. He served as the co-chair of the Immigration Law Committee of the ABA.
Schwartz was a tireless advocate for immigrants, refugees, and those without a voice. He joined John Lewis in the lunch counter sit-ins in Nashville, worked tirelessly to acquire a pardon for Leo Frank, represented the Mariel Cubans in the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary, and started the Secret Santa program for children in the Fulton DFCS system. Dale lent his heart, voice and leadership skills to a plethora of organizations, serving as President of American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and JF&CS Atlanta, National Board Chair of HIAS, Atlanta Board Chair and National Commissioner at ADL. The recipient of numerous national awards, including from the ACLU and AILA, Dale was a frequent guest on CNN, NBC, CBS and many other media outlets. He was an adjunct professor of immigration law at Emory University School of Law. He is missed everyday by his staff and colleagues in the immigration bar.
