Daniel F. Blanchard, III, an honor graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, is actively involved in civil trial work with emphasis in employment, civil rights, personal injury, consumer law, and business litigation cases.

Mr. Blanchard has been practicing law with the firm since his admission to the S.C. Bar in 1992. He was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina in 1995, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court in 1996, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in 1998. He is a member of numerous local, state, and national legal associations including the Charleston County Bar, the South Carolina Bar, the American Bar Association, and the United States Supreme Court Historical Society.

Mr. Blanchard has been actively involved in the South Carolina Bar and has served on the Citizenship in the Schools Committee, Community Service Projects Committee, Law School for Non-Lawyers Committee, Time Out for Senior Citizens Committee, Publications Committee, and the Adopt-a-Shelter Program. He was formerly the Commissioner of the Charleston Law Firm Softball League.

Along with Susan Rosen, Mr. Blanchard co-authored the article entitled "Controlling Person Liability for Motor Vehicle Dealer Violations of the South Carolina Motor Vehicle Unfair Trade Practices Act: A Proposal for Reform," 47 S.C.L. REV. 349 (1996). With Richard Rosen, he co-authored a chapter entitled "Interference with Contractual and Business Relations" published by the S.C. Bar's Continuing Legal Education Division in 2004 as part of its treatise on Damages. He also authored the articles entitled "The Faragher-Ellerth Affirmative Defense as Implied Waiver of Privileges: Is the Defense a Shield or Double-Edged Sword?," 14 S.C. Law. 38 (May 2003), "South Carolina Evidence Rule 703: A Backdoor Exception to the Hearsay Rule?," 13 S.C. Law. 14 (May/June 2002), and "Supervisor Liability for Sexual Harassment Under Title VII in the Fourth Circuit: Continued Uncertainty after Lissau v. Southern Food Service, Inc.", 13 S.C. Law. 36 (Nov./Dec. 2001). He has given lectures to various groups involving workplace violence issues, the South Carolina "Lemon Law," motor vehicle warranties, legal drafting, medical malpractice, and residential apartment management.

At Furman University, Mr. Blanchard was inducted to the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and was a recipient of the Furman Scholar and Kennedy Foundation Scholarships. During his law school studies, he was named to the Order of the Coif, the Order of the Wig and Robe, and the John Belton O'Neall Inn of Court. He was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award for highest class average in Evidence. He also served as Associate Editor-in-Chief of the American Bar Association's Real Property, Probate & Trust Journal and received the Journal's Outstanding Service Award in 1991.
