Tyler Immigration Lawyer
Overview
Daniel C. Ross joined Flowers Davis in January 2017, and practices primarily in Immigration Law with an emphasis on employment and investor related cases. He handles both immigrant and nonimmigrant cases, appeals before The Administrative Appeals Office (AAO) and the Board of Alien Labor Certification Appeals (BALCA), petitions for review in federal court, and assesses employer compliance with federal law (including I-9 audits). He also works on affirmative asylum claims and in the following areas of removal defense: appeals before The Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), complex motions to reopen proceedings, contesting prolonged detention through federal petitions for a writ of habeas corpus, and working with criminal defense attorneys to draft plea deals that will avoid adverse immigration consequences for his clients. Daniel also has experience in non-immigration Employment Law and Local Government Law.
Daniel was born and raised in Linden, Texas. After completing his undergraduate studies, he taught English in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He became interested in Immigration Law while teaching in Mexico, as the majority of his students were young professionals seeking to improve their English to advance careers in American-based companies. While earning his law degree, Daniel worked in the Appellate Division of the Second Circuit Public Defender's Office. He also clerked for the City of Tallahassee - City Attorney's Office and was selected to serve as a research assistant to distinguished criminal procedure scholar, Wayne Logan.
After passing the Florida Bar in 2012, Daniel became a staff attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida where he researched complex legal issues and drafted orders and opinions under the direction of Circuit Court Judges. In late 2013, he went to work as an associate attorney with David F. Vedder, PA, focusing exclusively on Immigration Law. After two years at David F. Vedder, PA, Daniel began his own immigration practice in Tampa, Florida. He has worked with a diverse client base from large, multi-national corporations to individual asylum seekers.
In 2017, Daniel moved back to his native East Texas. He spends his time between Linden, Longview, and Tyler. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his niece and three nephews, being outdoors, sports, fishing, geography, reading, and watching the Florida State Seminoles and Dallas Cowboys. He is a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
Daniel is proficient in Spanish.
