David grew up just south of Indianapolis in Martinsville. He joined the United States Navy after high school and served four years with multiple deployments around the world.

Following his service in the Navy, David attended Indiana University Bloomington campus for two years and then transferred to Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) to complete his bachelor's degree. After graduating, he attended law school at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

Before committing his career to personal injury and medical malpractice clients, David worked several years in Marion County Municipal Court and Superior Courts while he completed his undergraduate and law school studies.
