Mr. Darwin was admitted to the practice of law in Massachusetts in 1980 and in New York in 1983. As Orange County Attorney from 2004 until 2013, Mr. Darwin was responsible for a wide range of legal matters, including municipal law, labor and employment law (including labor arbitrations, administrative hearings and collective bargaining with the County's six unions), competitive bidding and procurement law, transactional work, environmental law, and litigation in state and federal courts, including appeals. Mr. Darwin's extensive litigation experience includes personal injury, medical malpractice, employment discrimination and other civil rights litigation, class actions, environmental matters and Article 78 proceedings. Mr. Darwin previously served as in-house counsel to Physicians' Reciprocal Insurers in Manhasset, New York, where he concentrated in medical malpractice defense. As County Attorney, he also served as counsel to Orange County Sewer District No. 1 and SUNY Orange, and was responsible for providing legal counsel to more than 40 County departments, boards, offices and agencies.
