David S. Hagy has been recognized by his peers for his skills and successes in personal injury cases, business disputes, and complex class action litigation. Mr. Hagy is a Nashville injury and accident trial lawyer who represents individuals injured as a result of the wrongful conduct of others. Mr. Hagy is also an experienced business litigation lawyer, helping individuals, companies, and business owners in matters involving breach of contract or other violations of law that result in economic damage or disruption of business. He is licensed to practice in trial and appellate courts in Tennessee and Georgia, including the Tennessee Supreme Court, Tennessee Court of Appeals, United States District Court, Middle District of Tennessee, Georgia Supreme Court, Georgia Court of Appeals, United States District Court, Northern District of Georgia, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Hagy graduated in 1990 from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In 1995, Mr. Hagy graduated, with honors, from Duke University School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia that year.
Mr. Hagy began his legal career with King & Spalding, LLP, Atlanta's largest law firm, where he concentrated on complex, high-stakes product liability defense for large manufacturing companies. In 1998, Mr. Hagy joined Doffermyre, Shields, Canfield & Knowles, LLC, a prominent litigation boutique in Atlanta representing individuals and businesses injured by the wrongful conduct of others. Mr. Hagy became a member of the firm in 2006.
Mr. Hagy maintains an AV rating, the highest possible rating under the Martindale-Hubbell peer review rating system. Lawyer ratings are based on confidential evaluations by other lawyers and judges. The ratings include over one million lawyers, and only about 15% have achieved an "AV" rating, which signifies the height of professional excellence.
In 2006 and 2007, Mr. Hagy was selected for inclusion in the Super Lawyers ® list of "Georgia Rising Stars", a publication based on peer recognition and achievement that recognizes exceptional lawyers who are 40 years old or younger. In 2009, he was again recognized in the Super Lawyers list of "Rising Stars", in both the Georgia and Mid-South editions, having been selected by his peers in Georgia and Tennessee. And, most recently, Mr. Hagy was selected for inclusion in the Super Lawyers ® list for the Mid-South in 2010. Only five percent of lawyers in the state are chosen for inclusion in the list each year.
In 2008, Mr. Hagy moved his law practice from Atlanta to Nashville when he relocated to Tennessee with his wife, Suzanne Hagy, a Nashville native. They live in the Belmont-Hillsboro neighborhood of Nashville with three children and their dog, Chief.
