Overview
Geoffrey K.S. Komeya has been a lawyer for thirty years and joined the firm in 1996. He received his law degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii, where he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review, a member of the National Environmental Moot Court Team, received several American Jurisprudence Awards for excellence in Tort Law, Insurance Law, Negotiation, Mediation, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Appellate Advocacy, and Federal Taxation, and co-authored a law review article on Tort law in Hawaii published in 1992. After graduating from law school, Mr. Komeya served as a law clerk to Federal District Judge Samuel P. King of the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii for one year, and to Chief Justice Ronald T.Y. Moon of the Supreme Court of Hawaii for two years. Mr. Komeya has participated in the successful prosecution of the firm's largest cases and his practice often focuses on difficult and/or complex cases in the medical malpractice, products liability, personal injury, motor vehicle, toxic/environmental, insurance, consumer fraud/unfair and deceptive trade practices, construction/industrial, appeals, and aviation areas. Mr. Komeya is also a member of the Supreme Court of Hawaii's Standing Committee on the Hawaii Rules of Appellate Procedure. Mr. Komeya has been named to the Best Lawyers in Hawai`i in the fields of Personal Injury Litigation - Plaintiffs, Medical Malpractice Law - Plaintiffs, Products Liability Litigation - Plaintiffs, Insurance Law, Litigation - Insurance, and Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions - Plaintiffs, and has received the highest peer and client ratings of "AV" from the Martindale-Hubbell Attorney Rating System.
