James is currently my attorney in a worker's compensation case. He has gone above and beyond as far as I'm concerned. It has been a very complicated case but James knows what he's doing. He has combated the insurance company every step of the way and been right on top of them when they've tried to complicate the situation. He's been relentless to hold them accountable for their actions a true fighter. He has also been very compassionate and knows exactly how to help me hold myself together as the insurance company has made this situation unnecessarily difficult but Mr. Walz has been there every step of the way so I don't have to worry. This man has been an outstanding attorney and dare I say a friend. I know I couldn't have made it through without him and for that I am extremely grateful and blessed. He continues to fight vigorously to make sure they cannot complicate my life and guards me from having to deal with nonsense. I want to thank James Walz and Walz Law office for standing by me through it all as he and his wonderful team continue to strive to get me what I deserve. If anyone is looking for someone that will fight for you and will understand what you are going through and be relentless, compassionate and who really cares about you then James is the attorney for you. Thank you James and Walz Law Office I appreciate you more than you will ever know.... Blessings, WIlliam

I was appointed Heather Horst for my case. She quickly got after the paperwork on my case, had a solid plan, and listened to my needs in the situation, and told me the possible outcomes. My case ended before court, she helped kept negotiating, and came up with a solid deal for my end. I couldn't be any happier with the outcome.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
