James Williamson started Williamson Family Law, PLLC, in September 2020, having practiced family law exclusively since 2004. James represents clients in a wide variety of family law matters including complex business valuation, property division and cash flow analysis relating to spousal maintenance and child support, as well as parenting time and custody matters.
James believes in a compassionate, sensible and cost-effective approach to family law. To attain client focused results, James regularly participates in mediation and other alternative dispute resolution methods. If litigation is necessary, James uses his extensive experience to guide the client through the court system and to advocate for his client's interests.
James is a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he learned discipline and the value of teamwork. Subsequent to his military service, James earned a Bachelors of Science in computer science, magna cum laude, at the University of North Dakota. He worked for a number of years as an IT Professional in charge of overall network design and administration, which taught him analytical thing, and creative, efficient problem-solving, both of which have served him well in his legal career. James obtained his Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in 2003.
