Overview
Jay Curts joined Coots, Henke & Wheeler in 1988 and concentrates his practice in estate planning and administration, as well as business organizations and transactions. Jay's estate planning practice includes clients at every level of the estate planning spectrum, from newly married couples requiring an estate planning foundation for themselves and their children to those with more complex family/business inheritance, asset transfer, and estate tax issues. Jay listens to his client's objectives and works with them to develop documents representing a practical plan that clients understand.
His estate and trust administration practice emphasizes comprehensive attention to administration issues, including preparation of all necessary income and transfer tax returns to maximize economic benefit for heirs. Jay acts as counsel to either personal representatives/trustees in charge of the administration process, or beneficiiary/heirs seeking to understand their rights. Additoinally, Jay represents client in both the assertion and defense of estate/trust administration disputes and Will or Trust contests. He approaches litigation and negotiation strategies with a practical focus on his clients' desire for timely resolution and the best possible economic outcome.
Jay's business organizations and transactions practice includes counsel to clients during both the formation and management of their business with attention to issues concerning business succession planning for single owner and closely held business entities, business organization documentation and contract needs.
Jay is the Managing Partner at the CHW firm.
