Jessica Armentrout is a North Carolina native of the Piedmont Triad area, who provides clients with child custody, child support, equitable distribution, alimony, separation agreements, and pre-marital agreements. Born and raised in Thomasville, North Carolina. She attended Trinity High School, where she was a member of the tennis team. Jessica then attended Clemson University and was a member of the Calhoun Honors College. She majored in English and Journalism, and was on the Clemson Water Ski Team. She then did a graduate year program at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, focusing on Israeli Society and Politics.
Like many people, Jessica went to law school without a clear idea of the area in which she wanted to practice. Ultimately, she chose to practice family law because this field makes room for a remarkable amount of diversity. She has had to study criminal law, tax law, estate planning, and general civil law in the course of representing different clients dealing with a range of family law issues. No two, family law cases are the same, so it is never boring! Generally, those who are seeking a family law attorney are at one of the lowest points in their lives. She enjoys being able to help those clients find a way forward, and Jessica is honored by the people who choose to put their faith in her to achieve their goals.
Jessica is a graduate of Elon University School of Law, where she was a member of the Federalist Society, and she class representative to the Student Bar Association. She was with a general practice firm in Winston-Salem before moving to a boutique family law firm, also in Winston-Salem, in September of 2016. She joined Greenwood Law in May of 2019, and continues to work primarily on family law matters.
Jessica is a member of the Forsyth County Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Association.
Outside of the office, Jessica enjoys tennis, skiing (water and snow), and spending time with her dog, Ella.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
