Background
During college, John worked at IBM, where he received sales training and experience. Upon graduation, he received a management position with Cahners Exposition Group (a Reed Publishing company) where he gained useful operations experience before attending law school.
In 1992, John joined the law firm, Clausen Miller, P.C., as a summer associate and was welcomed as an associate attorney in 1993. At Clausen Miller, John represented plaintiffs in complex tort litigation in both state and federal court. John quickly gained experience handling numerous catastrophic fire and explosion cases arising from defective products.
In 1997, John established the Law Offices of Stime & Malm, Wheaton, Illinois, concentrating his practice in bodily injury and wrongful death cases.
In 2001, the Law Offices of John J. Malm, P.C. was established, representing individuals and families who have suffered an injury or loss due to an accident. In 2011, the Naperville personal injury law firm became The Law Offices of John J. Malm & Associates, a professional corporation. In 2013, the law firm proudly announced the opening of its brand new offices, incorporating mid-century modern design elements and state-of-the art technology throughout.
With over 20 years of experience as a trial lawyer, John continues to emphasize client service and a results-oriented approach to personal injury litigation.
Professional Philosophy
"Work hard and do well for my clients." But John also believes in the need for lawyers to preserve civility in the practice of law, and in our courts. "I carefully prepare my cases to win, but along the way I do my best to treat my opponents the way I would like to be treated. This might seem easy to do, but sometimes, when I am facing an opponent who may not share my view, it can challenge me. I know that that adherence to the 'golden rule' has always served my clients very well."
