Overview
John is a graduate of Marquette University College of Business Administration and Marquette Law School and has been in private practice since 1976. His principal legal involvement is family law and was cited as one of the best divorce lawyers in Milwaukee by Milwaukee Magazine in September of 2001. He is also President of The Evictor, Inc. since 1977. He is the former President of the Leander J. Foley Matrimonial Inn of Court, a group of lawyers whose practice is concentrated in Family Law in Southeastern Wisconsin.
John has also been involved in investment real estate since 1969 and he was the President of the Apartment Association of Southeastern Wisconsin, the largest association of residential landlords in Wisconsin from 2005 to 2007. Previously he served as President of the Building Owners and Managers Association - Apartment Owners and Managers Association of Milwaukee, Inc. from September 2001 - September 2002; this organization consists of owners and managers of commercial properties and large office buildings in both downtown Milwaukee and the suburbs as well as apartment building owners and managers in Wisconsin.
Jonn served as a member of the Federal Nominating Committee from 2003 to 2008, and he also served as a member of the Governor's Advisory Council on Judicial Selection in 2001.
John has served as Treasurer of Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner's political campaigns since 1968. He has been a member of Wisconsin State Elections Board from 1998 to 2008 when it was abolished and served as its Chair from July 2000 - July 2001 and July 2006 - July 2007.
John has trial experience before federal and state courts and federal and state administrative agencies. He has also done appellate work (briefing) before the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, Wisconsin Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and Supreme Court of the United States as well as oral argument before the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
