Jonathan Cerise is a Member of the Sher Garner Cahill Richter Klein & Hilbert, L.L.C. law firm. Since joining the firm in 2006, he has developed a broad practice in the areas of real estate, commercial financing, land use, and commercial litigation. Jonathan has over a decade of experience representing individuals and businesses in the purchase and sale of real estate, lease transactions, development and zoning issues, title issues, and other real estate matters, including:
• Representing both landlords and tenants in negotiation of leases for commercial real estate, including ground leases, shopping center leases, office leases, and restaurant leases
• Advising closely-held businesses in the acquisition and financing of commercial real estate, including hotels and Class-A office buildings around the country
• Representing local lenders in financing transactions and serving as local counsel to out-of-state lenders with transactions in Louisiana
• Advising developers on issues related to redevelopment of property, including zoning issues, resubdivisions, neighborhood disputes, and negotiation of AIA construction contracts
• Representing clients in complex, multi-forum, bet-the-company litigation arising from contract disputes
Jonathan attended Jesuit High School in New Orleans and Davidson College in North Carolina before receiving his J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert law center at LSU, where he was a member of the Louisiana Law Review. He is presently a member of the Real Property Committee of the New Orleans Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Louisiana Bankers Association. He is a frequent speaker on several legal topics, including commercial leasing, land/use and zoning issues, and title insurance, and was recognized by Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” in Real Estate law since 2012-2020.
