After several years at Rogers & Wells (now Clifford Chance) Mr. Maya joined the New York City Human Rights Commission for the hands on experience it afforded. At the Commission, Mr. Maya supervised hundreds of investigations involving charges of employment discrimination and personally litigated many cases through trial. He also, at the direction of the Mayor, conducted an investigation into alleged discriminatory practices in the New York City Police Department. Mr. Maya participated in drafting the amendments to the New York City Human Rights Law and chaired the National Employment Lawyers Association Committee on the New York City Human Rights Law.
Mr. Maya appeared as an expert on sexual harassment and discrimination in the work place on a CBS special with Dan Rather. He also appeared as an expert on pregnancy discrimination in the work place for CNN. He has appeared many times on each of the major networks and news publications, including the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Law Journal regarding cases that he has been involved in.
Mr. Maya practices in the areas of complex commercial litigation, civil litigation and white collar defense.
Mr. Maya was born in Brooklyn, New York. He resides with his family in Westport, CT.
