Julie practices law in the Alexandria location and focuses primarily in the areas of estate planning, elder law, succession planning, trust administration, probate administration and real estate. She takes pride in providing for the care of yourself, your loved ones, and your charitable or special interests. As part of estate planning for yourself or your loved ones, Julie will guide you through the considerations and preparation of the appropriate Will, Trust, Durable Powers of Attorney, Guardianship, Conservatorship, or Health Care Directive to meet your present or anticipated needs. She also can assist you in planning for long term nursing care needs, including insurance considerations to pay for costs or eligibility for medical assistance. Her work includes tax planning, involving estate tax, capital gains tax, gifting and trust, to maximize the value of your properties for yourself and others consistent with your wishes.
She also practices and has a depth of experience in areas of real estate, township law and agricultural related issues and planning. This work includes deeds, easements, mortgages, title opinions, title insurance, succession planning, transfers of property, road use and improvement issues, cart ways, township improvement projects and related matters.
Julie is licensed to practice in Minnesota State and Federal Courts. She graduated with distinction from the University of Minnesota, Morris, in 1986, also receiving the Scholar of the College Award and elected to the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. She graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1989. She is a member of the firm's Estate Planning and Real Estate Practice Group, the Douglas County Bar Association, the Greater Minnesota Estate Planning Study Group, and the Minnesota State Bar Association Elder Law and Estate Planning Sections. Julie is also actively involved in pro bono work for both Wills for Heroes of Minnesota and Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota.
Julie grew up in Hoffman, Minnesota. Julie and her husband, Craig, reside in the rural Evansville and Brandon area, actively involved in their family farm operation. They have four children and a growing number of grandchildren. Outside the office, Julie's heart is directed toward her faith, her family and friends, being active outdoors, and her children and grandchildren's activities and sports.
