Julie A. Uebler is a partner in the Firm's Employment Law Practice. Ms. Uebler's practice is focused on all aspects of protecting and enforcing the legal rights of individuals in the workplace.
As a litigator, Ms. Uebler holds employers accountable for violating the rights of individual employees, and maximizes their legal remedies, by pursuing claims based on:
- Discrimination (age, sex/gender, pregnancy, gender identity, familial status, marital status, race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, disability, sexual orientation, domestic or sexual violence victim status);
- Harassment, including sexual harassment;
- Retaliation, including whistleblower claims;
- Wrongful termination;
- Employee benefits, including ERISA,
- Equity and/or executive compensation;
- Breach of contract and other employment-related claims, such as violations of the wage and hour laws, and protections for family and medical or military leaves of absence.
Often, employment disputes can be resolved without litigation. Ms. Uebler regularly advises individual employees, professionals, and executives who are facing workplace disputes with a focus on protecting legal rights, maximizing opportunities, and minimizing disruption to career goals. As a powerful advocate, and a practical and thoughtful advisor, Ms. Uebler's legal support can level the playing field when an individual is at odds with an employer, for example:
- Assisting clients to proactively address and resolve employment problems, such as harassment on the job;
- Working with clients to evaluate and request leaves of absence or accommodations for a disability;
- Constructively addressing pay disparities, disparate treatment, or other discriminatory practices.
Ms. Uebler also advises and negotiates on behalf of executives and professionals who are facing employment transitions, including leveraging the best employment terms at the start of an employment relationship, and protecting rights and entitlements when employment ends.
Ms. Uebler brings significant depth and breadth of experience to her representation of each client. For her first ten years of practice, Ms. Uebler worked as defense counsel for employers and then as in-house employment and benefits counsel for a pharmaceutical company. Ms. Uebler has served as a neutral independent investigator of workplace issues, and is also a trained mediator.
Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, Ms. Uebler regularly handles matters in the federal courts in the Eastern and Middle District of Pennsylvania, as well as the state courts in Philadelphia, and the surrounding five county area.
