Katerina Ehrlich is an associate attorney practicing exclusively immigration law, focusing on complex removal defense, humanitarian processes, and family-based immigration matters.
After graduating from college, and prior to attending law school, Katerina served on active duty with the U.S. Army as an Engineer Officer in South Korea and Washington DC. As a first generation American to a Uruguayan mother and Italian father, she is fluent in French, Spanish and, Italian. She grew up in Panama, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica.
While in law school, she volunteered at the Center for Women and Families, assisting survivors of domestic violence during their protection order hearings, and at immigration law clinics, interpreting in both French and Spanish during consultations with attorneys. She also volunteered at the human rights office in Puerto Ayacucho, Amazonas, Venezuela where she worked on the Yanomami Massacre case before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. She also reviewed rights to ancestral lands of the indigenous populations of the Amazon, and visited regional prisons to review the human rights issues of detained indigenous populations.
In addition to volunteering, she also worked as a law clerk for Russell Immigration Law firm, where she got an opportunity to work on family, humanitarian, and employment-based immigration cases.
After graduating from law school, Katerina earned an LLM in International Human Rights Law, at the University of Essex in the United Kingdom, where she focused on US Asylum law as it relates to international refugee law. She wrote her thesis on the rights of the indigenous people in the Americas.
Upon returning to the United States, Katerina worked as a staff attorney at Ayuda in Washington DC, representing immigrant survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and other trauma. She served on the DC Human Trafficking task force and gave several seminars to pro bono attorneys on the immigration remedies for survivors of crime. She also appeared on local Spanish-language radio and TV shows where she gave "know your rights" talks, updates on current legal remedies for immigrants, and answered questions from callers.
She then took a one-year sabbatical in Santiago, Chile and Montevideo, Uruguay focusing on combating human trafficking in the Southern Cone. She worked with the IOM and local non-profits as well as prosecutors on the best practices for identifying, assisting, and working with survivors of human trafficking. Katerina then returned to the United States once more, where she founded her solo practice, Titanium Immigration Law, where she took on humanitarian and family-based cases with a variety of clients from Latin America, Africa, and the Caribbean.
Katerina joined Hanis Irvine Prothero in November 2019 as an Associate Immigration attorney.
