Overview

Katherine M. Jaskot is a seasoned litigator and has extensive experience in running a law firm. Prior to her joining the firm, she was the managing attorney and lead litigator in an 80-person insurance defense and general litigation law firm. Katherine has experience in jury trials, bench trials, arbitration matters and appellate work. As the managing attorney, Katherine was integral to the development and implementation of firm best practices, and litigation and trial strategy and tactics.

At Ford O'Brien Landy LLP, Katherine advises the firm's litigators on civil and criminal procedure on the state and federal levels, serves as in-house general counsel for high-profile clients, offers substantive procedural guidance to attorneys and support staff in the office and facilitates the eDocket systems for trial preparation and related workflow training for the firm's staff.

In July 2019, Katherine worked with the trial team that secured a full acquittal for its client Joseph SanFilippo, the former CFO of Platinum Partners in a federal criminal jury trial in which Mr. SanFilippo was accused of securities fraud. The charges brought against Mr. SanFilippo concerned an alleged scheme to deceive investors in Platinum's flagship fund.

Following a nine-week trial in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the jury acquitted Mr. SanFilippo on all counts. The case has been cited in legal publications as one of the year's most notable white collar victories.

Katherine received her undergraduate education from the University of Western Ontario, where she graduated with distinction in 1997. She went on to study law and graduated from Pace University Law School, Health Law Program in 2000. Katherine clerked for the Honorable Sondra M. Miller, Appellate Division, Second Department. She is admitted to the bars of New York and in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association, and Association of Arbitrators.

Katherine is fluent in the Polish language and has a working knowledge of the French language. She was born and raised near Toronto, Canada, and currently lives in New York City.
