Kathryn Hopping is a partner specializing in complex commercial litigation. Kathryn has a wide range of experience in commercial litigation ranging from contract disputes, fraud and civil theft, landlord-tenant disputes, large construction defect litigation, and real estate and land use litigation. Kathryn also has considerable experience in First Amendment and religious rights litigation, being one of few attorneys in the United States to try a federal case under the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act, where she successfully represented a religious institution seeking redress for free speech, right to assembly and religious rights violations. In addition to litigation in both state and federal courts, Kathryn has significant experience resolving matters through alternative dispute resolution, helping clients resolve disputes through both mediation and arbitration and avoiding litigation where possible.
Kathryn graduated in the Order of St. Ives from the University of Denver School of Law in 2003, where she also served on the Moot Court Board. She received her undergraduate degree in political science and sociology from Colorado State University in 1999. Prior to law school, Kathryn also spent a year as a research assistant and speech writer for a member of Parliament in London. In her spare time, Kathryn enjoys running and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
Kathryn was recently named a 2010 Super Lawyers Colorado Rising Star.
