Prior to joining Hage Hodes, Kirsten was a research associate at the University of New Hampshire Institute for Health Policy and Practice. She also worked as a legal consultant for Vapotherm, Inc. During law school, she gained practice experience during semester-long legal residencies at Elliot Health System and Vapotherm, Inc. Kirsten spent a summer as a judicial intern for the Hillsborough North Superior Court and was also a summer law clerk for Hage Hodes. Through law school, Kirsten served on the board of Domestic and Sexual Violence Project at UNH Law. Kirsten spent her first summer internship with a non-profit law firm, Have Justice - Will Travel in Vermont, and interned with the New Hampshire Womens's Foundation. In 2018, Kirsten was awarded the New Hampshire Women's Bar Association Winnie McLaughlin Scholarship, based on community service focused on advancing women in society.
