Attorney Information
Overview
Since her admission to the bar, Liane Fisher has focused her practice of law on resolving workplace issues. Prior to founding, and becoming senior partner at Fisher Taubenfeld LLP, Fisher developed a boutique employment law practice with an emphasis on remedying discrimination, sexual harassment and wage and hour violations for employees in the workplace.
Fisher has the unique advantage of understanding employment issues and legal strategies from the employer perspective. Prior to helping employees, she represented management while working at a leading, national employment law firm where she formulated strategies to prevent and defend against litigation. She also helped achieve many notable litigation successes in state and federal court and before city, state and federal administrative agencies.
Fisher received her juris doctorate from Brooklyn Law School, where she earned the Judge Doris A. Thompson and Edward Thompson Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy after becoming a Finalist in a national trial advocacy competition. Fisher graduated cum laude from the George Washington University with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration.
Other Work and Professional Affiliations
In addition to litigating cases on behalf of employees, Fisher spends time providing advice and counsel to small and mid-size New York businesses. She focuses on designing and implementing litigation-avoidance strategies by drafting employee handbooks and guiding management on their day-to-day legal obligations.
Fisher is General Counsel for a newly formed boutique hotel in Brooklyn, New York and a New York City based Marketing Firm. She is also a member of the Board of Directors for Corporate Wellness Management, a company that designs and executes wellness programs for small and mid-size employers, and serves as Legal Advisor to the burgeoning Whine & Dine Human Resources Networking Group.
As a guest lecturer at various New York based law schools, Fisher enjoys teaching employment law with a real world perspective. Fisher also provides training on employment law to members of various not-for-profit entities.
Fisher was recently named to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list as one of the top up-and-coming attorneys in New York State for 2012. Each year, no more than 2.5% of the lawyers in the state receive this honor. The selection for this respected list is made by the Super Lawyers research team.
Fisher is a member of the New York Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA-NY), the New York State Bar Association, the New York Women's Bar Association and the New York County Lawyers Association.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.
How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
