Linda is the founder of de Beer & Associates, P.A. She has helped clients with their family law needs since 1992. Linda is an Honors Graduate from the University of Minnesota Law School. Before attending law school, she graduated with Honors from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Because of her business background, she is particularly equipped to manage cases that entail significant tax and financial issues, as well as closely held business interests and self-employed parties. She has been voted a "Super Lawyer" as well as a "Rising Star" by her peers.
Some of Linda's past and present volunteer experiences includes: Financial Early Neutral Evaluation Evaluator, Ethics Investigator to the Lawyers Board of Professional Responsibility, Board of Directors - National Association of Women Business Owners, Volunteer Attorney and Seminar Presenter - Chrysalis Center for Women, Volunteer Attorney - Dads and Families Center in Washington County, Director - Community Mediation Program, Chair - Collaborative Law Institute, Membership Committee and Member, Strategic Planning Committee.
Linda is a Hennepin County Conciliation Court Judge on occasion and finds that the exercise of "thinking like a judge" helps her present cases more effectively to the Court on behalf of her clients. She understands the needs of business owners and received the Young Woman Business Owner award from the National Association of Women Business Owners.
Linda's favorite opposing counsels are Max, Jack, and Ellie. Though they have little court experience, they seemingly win every argument.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
