Ms. Bryant has extensive commercial litigation and bankruptcy experience. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Bryant served as head of litigation for the Federal Land Bank of Louisville. While serving in this capacity, Ms. Bryant not only actively litigated cases throughout Kentucky, but also supervised the bank's litigation in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee, with respect to both state court litigation and bankruptcy cases. Since entering private practice, Ms. Bryant has concentrated her practice in the representation of lenders in Kentucky and Indiana, both in general commercial litigation and contested bankruptcy matters. Additionally, Ms. Bryant has recently become active in the area of animal law.
Ms. Bryant's litigation experience ranges from serving as lead counsel in a two-week state court jury trial, defending a bank against an action brought by an aggrieved borrower, to trying countless bench trials in both the state circuit courts and the bankruptcy courts. Ms. Bryant has also negotiated numerous work-out situations to avert the filing of bankruptcies by distressed borrowers. She is currently serving as the Liquidating Trustee in a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in the Western District of Kentucky.
Ms. Bryant has also represented financial institutions in numerous appellate matters, both in the Kentucky Court of Appeals, Kentucky Supreme Court, and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Ms. Bryant has briefed numerous appeals from Bankruptcy Court to the United States District Court and/or Bankruptcy Appellate Panel, and has been a speaker at a Louisville Bar Association seminar on this topic.
Ms. Bryant is actively involved in continuing legal education, having previously served as the Co-Chair of the Louisville Bar Association's Bankruptcy Section. She has also served on the CLE Committee of the Louisville Bar Association. She previously served as the CLE Co-Chair for the Bankruptcy Section of the Kentucky Bar Association, and currently serves as the Chair of the Kentucky Bar Association's Animal Law Section, and has spoken recently at the Kentucky Bar Association's 2017 Annual Convention and its 2016, 2017, and 2018 Kentucky Law Updates. She has also spoken several times at the bi-annual University of Kentucky CLE Bankruptcy Seminar. She has also spoken to the Business Section of the Kentucky Bar Association at the Annual Convention, regarding current issues in bankruptcy. Also, Ms. Bryant spoke to a University of Kentucky College of Law CLE seminar entitled "Legal Issues for Financial Institutions". Ms. Bryant has also spoken to the Bank Counsel Division of the Kentucky Bankers' Association, regarding recent developments in bankruptcy. She also chaired a half-day seminar on bankruptcy presented to the Bank Counsel Division of the Kentucky Banker's Association. She has spoken to the Louisville Bar Association several times with respect to revisions to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and on the topic of objections to confirmation in contested bankruptcy cases. She has also written an article for publication in a University of Kentucky CLE manual, on the topic of representing secured lenders in bankruptcy matters.
