Lucy Hansen was raised in Butte and Helena. She graduated from Carroll College with honors in 1999 and the U of M Law School in 2002. While in law school Lucy was a member of the Trial Team. She received the International Academy of Trial Lawyers' award for legal advocacy for excellence in the art and science of legal advocacy at graduation, as one of two graduating students.
Lucy worked for, and then supervised, the Child Protection Unit, a bureau in the Attorney General's Office, from 2006-2013. Since 2013 Lucy has taken the vast experience of litigating child abuse and neglect cases statewide and applied it to her representation of her clients in private practice. In 2020 Lucy established Hansen Law Practice in Missoula. In 2022 Hansen Law Practice opened a second office in Billings and brought on attorney Scott Pederson, who worked with Lucy in the Child Protection Unit. In 2021 Hansen Law Practice was voted 3rd best attorney in Missoula in the Missoulian's Best of Missoula competition. But the real reward is the clients who Lucy helps daily.
Lucy brings nearly 20 years of experience in the courtroom and settlement negotiations to help her clients through divorce, parenting, and child support matters. Lucy is the mother of two and when she is not working, she enjoys all things outdoors, especially hiking and kayaking. Lucy enjoys traveling across this state she's always called home, both to try cases and to explore. She also enjoys cooking, photography, and enjoying time with family and friends. She is passionate about her work on behalf of her clients, and always welcomes a new case for the challenges and rewards, that come with practicing her craft.
