Marissa is a graduate of Brown University and Boston University School of Law. Admitted to practice in New York in 1987 and in Colorado in 2012, Marissa's practice has encompassed a diverse caseload over the years, including real estate, leasing, cooperative and condominium matters, corporate law, commercial litigation and, most recently, matrimonial law. In addition to her legal practice, Marissa worked for the New York State Board of Law Examiners as a contract grader for the essay portion of the New York Bar Exam.
From 1999 to 2005 Marissa was "Of Counsel" to a family law boutique in Garden City, New York where she focused on the firm's appellate practice. Her reported appellate decisions include Sass v. Sass, 276 A.D.2d 42, 716 N.Y.S.2d 686 (2d Dep't 2000)(a case of first impression in New York which permitted a former spouse to seek an extension of her durational maintenance five years after the durational period had expired); Thomas v. Having endured a protracted and high conflict divorce as well as raising two children, Marissa brings a wealth of life experience to her practice. Her clients appreciate her sense of humor, her patience and, above all, her empathy.
In her spare time, Marissa enjoys hiking, mountain biking, teaching her new dog old tricks and devising ways to drive her children to distraction.
