Matt grew up in Dallas, Texas and attended Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law. In law school, Matt represented SMU against other law schools in Mock Trial competitions around the country. He also received a Certificate of Russian Law while studying at the Center for International and Comparative Law in Moscow, Russia. Upon graduation from SMU law with honors, Matt was inducted into the National Order of Barristers, a national honors society for those excelling in courtroom advocacy.
Before joining The Barber Law Firm, Matt worked at a civil defense firm, defending a large petroleum corporation and its insurance company against personal injury claims.Doing defense work, Matt witnessed firsthand the injustice that can result when an injured person chooses to take on insurance companies with the wrong attorney. He also saw how the right attorney can present a case in a way which provides the best odds for an injured plaintiff to receive proper compensation.
