New York Toxic Torts Lawyer
Overview
As an associate at Levy Konigsberg, Melanie focuses her practice on attaining justice for victims of toxic torts - those exposed to asbestos through their use of asbestos products and cosmetic talc, and those exposed to lead through water and paint. In her practice, she strives to apply her prior experiences to cultivate a unique perspective on litigation and to guide her clients with strong leadership and compassion.
Prior to joining Levy Konigsberg, Melanie served the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit as a Staff Attorney. There, she wrote bench memoranda and orders for the Second Circuit Judges, recommending dispositions on appeals and substantive motions for diverse areas of federal law, including constitutional law, Title VII and ADA discrimination, and habeas corpus.
Melanie received her Juris Doctor from New York Law School where she graduated magna cum laude and was humbled to receive the Joseph Solomon Award for Excellent Character and Fitness. While at New York Law School, she was an active member of the student community, serving as a Staff Editor on the Law Review, competing member of the Dispute Resolution Team, and a teaching assistant. She also worked and interned with the Superfund Division of the Environmental Protection Agency, Clean Ocean Action, and a boutique environmental law firm.
Before law school, Melanie received her B.A. with a double major in Environmental Studies and English at the University of Vermont. During her time in Vermont, she wrote a thesis on experiential education. After college, she worked as a wilderness guide on the West Coast and abroad, guiding adolescents on backcountry excursions while teaching wilderness survival and ecology curricula. She also worked in the Southern Alps of France and is fluent in French.
Melanie is currently licensed to practice law in New York and New Jersey (where she grew up and currently lives), and is also admitted to the bar of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
