He is an experienced litigator with a primary focus on oil and gas matters. Micah takes ownership of his case file and consistently and ethically seeks to gain the advantage for each of his clients.
Micah has secured substantial victories for many of his clients in the district courts, arbitration proceedings, and/or settlement negotiations. He is equally at home in a court room or on a backroads site visit to gain a first-hand assessment of his clients' unique situation.
He is active in his community and dedicates a substantial portion of his practice to providing pro bono legal services to low-income clients, as well as veterans and active-duty military personnel. Micah once obtained and collected an approximately $28,000 judgment on behalf of a low-income, pro bono, client, which, despite the relatively low-dollar amount, remains one of his proudest achievements as a lawyer.
Micah graduated with distinction from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. During law school, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Oil and Gas, Natural Resources, and Energy Journal (ONE J) and received the American Jurisprudence Award for top performance in Mineral Title Examination. He was also the recipient of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation Scholarship. Micah received his Bachelor of Science in political science from Tarleton State University. He also holds a certificate in Petroleum Land Management from the Meinders School of Business at Oklahoma City University. Previously, Micah served more than 14 years in the United States Marine Corps, departing service as a major, and is a combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan.
He is, first, a Christian and, second, a family man. He spends most of his free time hanging out with his wife, raising kids, running a cow-calf operation, and trying to squeeze in a hunting experience every now and then.
Micah is a past President of the Mineral Lawyers' Society of Oklahoma City.
The following are highlights of Micah's recent representative successes:
• As defense counsel, secured summary judgment in favor of defendants in the amount of $570,958.00 on counterclaims; the plaintiff took nothing
• As defense counsel, successfully compelled arbitration in the district court and secured a subsequent arbitration award which was ultimately confirmed as a judgment in the amount of $111,502.52; the plaintiff took nothing
• Secured summary judgment, which was affirmed on appeal, for three defendant well operators in a dispute with a non-drilling plaintiff over the correct non-consent penalty to be applied to the plaintiff's interest; the plaintiff also claimed interest under the Oklahoma Production Revenue Standards Act; the plaintiff took nothing

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
