New York Employment- and Family-Based Immigration Lawyer

Overview

Myriam Jaidi is an Associate at Cyrus D. Mehta & Associates, PLLC (CDMA) where she represents clients on a full range of employment- and family-based immigration matters.

Prior to joining CDMA, Ms. Jaidi supervised immigration matters at the Urban Justice Center in New York and represented clients on a broad range of immigration cases including T- and U-nonimmigrant visa classification, asylum, SIJS, VAWA relief and adjustment of status before USCIS and in removal proceedings. Ms. Jaidi practiced business immigration law at Fragomen where she worked on PERM labor certifications and employment-based adjustments as well as nonimmigrant petitions for multinational executives, managers, specialized knowledge employees, treaty investors, individuals of extraordinary ability, skilled works and professional employees with or without advanced degrees. She also prepared family petitions and addressed client criminal issues at the firm. Ms. Jaidi served as the first Fragomen Fellow at the New York City Bar Justice Center, where she spearheaded the development of the New York City Immigrant Advocacy Initiative, providing pro bono "Know Your Rights" trainings, Naturalization Clinics, and general immigration clinics in New York City. Ms. Jaidi initially practiced with Preston Gates & Ellis LLP in Seattle, WA, where she also worked on asylum issues with the Northwest Immigrants Rights Project. She served as a Staff Attorney in the Criminal Defense Division of the Legal Aid Society in Manhattan and as a Court Attorney in the New York City Criminal Courts in Manhattan and Brooklyn, dealing in both positions with the immigration consequences of criminal convictions. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is admitted to practice in the State of New York.

Ms. Jaidi received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Michigan Journal of Race & Law and was awarded the Dores McCree Award for Service to the Law School Community. She received her M.A. from Stanford and her B.A. cum laude from Harvard University. She has done numerous trainings on T & U visas, immigration consequences of criminal convictions, and has trained and mentored pro bono attorneys in asylum, trafficking, U visa, and VAWA self-petition cases.
