Neil Sugarman concentrates in the area of plaintiff trial practice specializing in products liability, medical malpractice, construction site accidents, admiralty and complex personal injury lawsuits. Neil has handled some of the most serious explosion and fire accident cases in Massachusetts which involved large numbers of victims, some of whom suffered from catastrophic burns and others resulting in death. He has successfully argued leading appellate cases involving expansion of personal injury law and consumer rights. Neil graduated from Northeastern University in 1962 and Boston University School of Law in 1965. He then served as an officer in the U. S. Army Signal Corp from 1965 until 1967, including a tour in Viet Nam. Neil then joined the firm in 1967 and became a founder and principal of Sugarman and Sugarman, P.C. He has been active in law school lecturing and in numerous bar associations. Neil has been the recipient of the Boston University School of Law Silver Shingle Alumni Award for distinguished service within the profession and the American ORT Federation Jurisprudence Award. He has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America from 1987 - 2019. He was President of Boston University School of Law Alumni Association 1997-1998; President of Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys 1992-1993; and President of the Massachusetts Trial Lawyers Association 1984-1985. He is also active in various bar associations including The Association of Trial Lawyers of America, International Society of Barristers, The International Academy of Trial Lawyers, American College of Trial Lawyers, American Board of Trial Advocates, American Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association, Boston Bar Association, Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys, and Norfolk County Bar Association. Neil is also on the Advisory Board of N. Neal Pike Institute on Law and Disability at Boston University School of Law and is a Fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation. Neil has lectured extensively for bar associations, law schools, and the National College of Trial Advocacy.
