Ms. Chapman grew up in Danville and graduated from Monte Vista High School (2010) before going on to become a proud "Double Trojan," receiving both her undergraduate degree (2013) and law degree (2016) from the University of Southern California.
Prior to joining Gagen McCoy, Ms. Chapman served as a judicial extern for both the Honorable Julia W. Brand of the United States Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California, as well as the Honorable Marc D. Gross of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Family Law Division. Ms. Chapman gained familiarity with criminal law while interning for the Alameda County Public Defender's Office in their Juvenile Unit, where she participated in all phases of criminal cases, argued through written motions, and worked closely with juvenile offenders and the probation department.
As an undergraduate, Ms. Chapman served as intern for U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein in the San Francisco District Office, where she conducted legislative research and assisted with constituent concerns involving federal agencies. She also spent her undergraduate career participating in USC's Teaching International Relations Program (TIRP), where she traveled to high schools throughout South Central Los Angeles and taught classes in politics and human rights.
Ms. Chapman is a member of the California State Bar Association, the Contra Costa County Bar Association, and the Contra Costa County Criminal Conflict Program. She is admitted to practice law before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Northern District of California.
Rachel currently resides in Danville and is active in the community. She enjoys USC football, Disneyland, and, most of all, spending time with her family, husband, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
