Robert Rex graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in accounting and obtained his law degree from the University of Florida in 1976. For six years following graduation from law school, he practiced tax law and oil and gas law as a Certified Public Accountant with Coopers and Lybrand and Grant Thornton (formerly Alexander Grant).
During the early 1980's he served as VP of legal and finance for Heritage Oil and Heritage Processing, oil and gas related companies in San Antonio, Texas In 1987 Mr. Rex joined Dickenson Murphy Rex & Sloan where he established his practice representing investors, primarily retirees, who have lost money in the stock market as a result of stockbroker malpractice.
Mr. Rex’s clients are comprised primarily of retirees seeking the recovery of investment and retirement funds lost as a result of negligent advice and or fraud, from brokerage firms, stockbrokers and/or financial advisers. Mr. Rex has represented thousands of individuals nationwide and beyond.
Many of his clients are elderly and retired, and the losses suffered have made it difficult to meet daily living and health related expenses. Recovery of damages has made a significant positive impact on their quality of life.
Mr. Rex is a member of both the Florida and Texas Bar Associations , The Public Investors Advocate Bar Association (PIABA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Rex was voted one of Florida’s Top lawyers by Florida Legal Elite in 2006. This honor was determined by a voting of Florida lawyers and represents the top 1.6% of Florida’s lawyers. PIABA is an international bar association whose members represent investors in disputes with the securities industry. Currently, there are members from 44 states, Puerto Rico and Japan. The mission of PIABA is to advocate for equal access to justice for investors in all forums.
PIABA works to promote fairness in the rules governing dispute resolution for investor claims against securities and commodities brokerage firms, registered investment advisory firms, and their associated representatives. PIABA also works toward creating, improving, and enforcing statutes, rules, regulations, case law, and policies designed to promote investor rights and to prevent misconduct by those who sell investments to the public. Mr. Rex served in the United States Air Force Securities Service as a Morse intercept operator from 1966-1969. A lifelong resident of of Palm Beach County, Florida for most of his life, Mr. Rex moved to the Austin, TX, area a few years ago.
With offices in Austin, Texas, and Boca Raton, Florida, Mr. Rex serves clients nationwide and internationally. There is no charge to evaluate a case and most cases are handled on a contingent fee basis.
