In 2001, Dripps obtained a unanimous decision from the United States Supreme Court holding that injured seamen can have their cases heard in state courts. In 2003, Dripps obtained a $7,500,000 verdict for a deckhand who was permanently paralyzed from the waist down when a crane failed and a barge cover hit him. Dripps also obtained an $8.4 million verdict for a client who lost a leg as a result of a defective nail gun and ultimately collected $9.9 million when the verdict was affirmed on appeal, with interest.
