Scott is a frequent lecturer and author. He speaks regularly on securities, litigation, subprime mortgage litigation, risk management and white collar crime.
Additionally, Scott counsels clients on legal issues arising out of the turbulence in the nation's credit markets. He is also a member of the FINRA arbitrator panel for Northeast Ohio, and is often selected by other parties to arbitrate their securities litigation disputes.
As a member of the firm's White Collar Defense and Investigations practice, Scott assists corporations, their boards, officers and employees by:
·Conducting internal investigations of fraud, accounting misconduct, embezzlement, and other business-related wrongdoing
·Counseling clients about the nature and extent of their potential exposure to regulatory action or civil litigation as a result of investigatory findings
·Advising clients in responding to informal inquiries or official investigations launched by state and federal regulatory agencies
Scott is retained by corporations nationwide to provide insurance coverage counsel, and to litigate against carriers when major claims are wrongfully denied. Scott's experience in this area includes:
·Counseling an international manufacturer of industrial coatings and sealants
·Retention as coverage counsel to corporations in Maryland, Missouri, Illinois, Georgia and other states over large-value disputes with carriers
·Retention by corporations to develop, implement and execute on strategies to locate, identify and secure the client's missing historical insurance coverage
·Recovery of more than $1 million for clients where their claims had originally been disputed or denied by the carrier
Civic Leadership
Scott is also very active in Cleveland's civic affairs, particularly in the Jewish Community. Scott's community leadership has included:

Additionally, in 2004 Scott was one of nine young leaders named a Shalom Comay Fellow nationwide by the AJC. As part of this leadership training program, Scott participated in the diplomatic mission led by AJC's national officers to Israel, Egypt and Morocco. He also has been honored by the AJC with the Max Freedman Young Leadership Award.
Scott was an associate with the New York law firms of Montfort, Healy, McGuire & Salley, and Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer between 1995 and 1999. He began his tenure with Calfee in 1999 and became a partner in 2006.
