Scott M. Malzahn, a Senior Attorney at Kabateck Brown Kellner LLP, has a broad range of experience successfully managing complex civil litigation matters in the areas of contracts and business torts, employment, class actions, mass torts, and constitutional matters in federal and state courts.
Before joining Kabateck Brown Kellner, Mr. Malzahn spent eight years at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and Howrey Simon where he defended clients in complex civil litigation matters. He has defended clients in the energy, aerospace, banking, construction, retail and auto industries, and has managed the day-to-day operations of cases involving tens of millions of dollars.
In addition to his defense work, Mr. Malzahn has successfully represented plaintiffs in many landmark and noteworthy cases. As a core member of the trial team in Perry v. Schwarzenegger (the federal constitutional challenge to Proposition 8), he helped plaintiffs win the first federal court decision in the country finding that same-sex couples enjoy the same constitutional right to marry under the U.S. Constitution as opposite-sex couples. He also successfully managed a high-profile asylum application for an Iraqi family and their young son who were granted political asylum. Law & Politics magazine and Los Angeles magazine has honored Mr. Malzahn as one of Southern California's "Rising Stars."
