Bowling Green Health Care Lawyer

Overview

Shawn concentrates on two areas: health care and the environment. Despite their differences, both fields are governed by intricate regulations and rely on technical experts. Whether a client needs assistance with complex regulations or expert witness analysis, Shawn confidently advocates for their interests.

Shawn is a frequent speaker on health care law, covering HIPAA privacy and security regulations. In the past, she taught environmental law at Western Kentucky University. She has become well-versed in advising local governments on solid waste issues. While focusing on specific areas of the law, Shawn's experience as a staff attorney for the Kentucky Court of Appeals and an Assistant Warren County Attorney gives her a wide range of legal experience.

Shawn has an impressive background serving on influential boards and organizations. She has actively contributed as a member of the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Kentucky. These esteemed organizations provide invaluable after-school programs for young women. Shawn's commitment extends further as he volunteers with Junior Achievement, and he has also accomplished the Leadership Bowling Green program with great success.

Shawn has been nominated for the Bowling Green Athena Award and the Bowling Green Human Rights Commission Professional Woman of Distinction. She is currently a deacon in her church and volunteers at W.R. McNeill Elementary School, where her children attend.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
