Montgomery Divorce - Dissolution Lawyer
Overview
Stephen King was born in Roswell, New Mexico. Steve received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1985 from Wright State University, and spent a decade working in the field of engineering. He was a Licensed Professional Engineer, and holds two U.S. Patents.
He received his law degree in 1996 from the University of Cincinnati, and was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1996. Steve has argued before the First District Court of Appeals, the Twelfth District Court of Appeals, and the Ohio Supreme Court. In 2008, Mr. King was successful in his petition to the Ohio Supreme Court on behalf of Grandparents that had been awarded custody of their grandson when he was 1 year old. The trial court returned custody to the parents when the child was 5 years old because the parents no longer exhibited the same behaviors that resulted in them losing custody. The Ohio Supreme Court ruled that a change of circumstances in the child or the grandparents had to be proven before a Trial Court could even consider returning custody of the child back to the parents.
Steve is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Cincinnati Academy of Collaborative professionals, and the CBA Domestic Relations Committee. Steve has either presented or moderated at attorney seminars on the subjects of Child Custody and Family Law for the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Northeast Lawyer's Club and the National Business Institute.
In addition to his extensive training and experience in the area of family law litigation, Mr. King has also been trained in the field of collaborative law, an alternative approach to the traditional methods of litigating family law issues. Steve was also named as an outstanding lawyer in the Cincinnati Business Courier's edition of Who's Who in Greater Cincinnati Law.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
