Taylor Murdoch was born in Springfield and grew up on his family’s cattle ranch outside of town. He attended Portland State University as an Oregon Laurels Scholar and studied in Italy. After graduation, he worked as a Jesuit Volunteer in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the Louisiana Capital Assistance Center, a law office that represents indigent clients charged with capital crimes. He clerked on several murder trials and traveled throughout the Deep South to assist with cases. He also assisted individuals pro bono in matters arising in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Taylor moved back to Springfield to study law at the University of Oregon. There he led the law school's involvement in helping prepare tax returns for low- and middle-income taxpayers. He served as an assistant in the Oregon Attorney General’s office during the 2009 legislative session, where his work focused on consumer protection and civil rights legislation.
Taylor was hired by the firm as a law clerk in 2008 and clerked for the firm throughout law school. He worked on a wide range of matters for private and public clients. As a law student, he represented City of Springfield staff before the City Council, and prosecuted cases in municipal court.
After graduating and passing the bar, Taylor joined the firm as an associate in 2011. His practice focuses on helping clients solve problems in areas concerning family law, property disputes, land use, municipal law, and some tort law. He has also served as City Prosecutor pro tem for the City of Springfield. He is a member of the Lane County Bar Association.
Taylor commutes to the office on his bicycle whenever possible and volunteers with the Springfield Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee. He also enjoys volunteering with Lane County Legal Aid’s Senior Law Service. When not at work or volunteering, Taylor is likely enjoying the outdoors with his lovely spouse and two young boys, at his parish church, or supporting the Portland Timbers soccer team.
