Overview
Mr. Carey was born in Kansas City, Kansas, but grew up in the Florida Panhandle. He received his A.A. degree from Chipola Jr. College and his undergraduate degree from the Dothan campus of Troy State University. Following graduation, Mr. Carey worked for a number of years in commercial lending with General Motors before returning to law school. Mr. Carey graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Juris Doctorate Degree from the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law located at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama. He is a member of the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, the Alabama State
Bar and the Houston County Bar Association.
During law school, Mr. Carey clerked with another personal injury firm. Later he became a partner in that firm before leaving to form Carey & Hamner, P.C., with Steve Hamner. Mr. Carey's practice focuses on wrongful death, personal injury, workers compensation and social security.
Mr. Carey is married and he and his wife have one child. Mr. Carey is actively involved with his church and community. He helps teach an elementary class and serves as a deacon and on the youth committee at Bay Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Carey has previously coached Upward Basketball and has helped coach a soccer team. He enjoys fishing, playing banjo, swimming, camping and being with friends and family.
