Theresa Kelly Banash is presently Of Counsel to the firm.
Ms. Banash was born and grew up in New York City. She attended Queens College of the City University of New York. Ms. Banash graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned a B.A. with a major in English literature and a minor in psychology.
Ms. Banash attended Northeastern University School of Law and obtained a J.D. degree in 1982. She is admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the First and Second Circuit Courts of Appeal.
Immediately after law school, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Frederick R. DeCesaris, United States Magistrate on the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island.
Ms. Banash is a trial attorney, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of cases including business and real estate disputes, personal injury, sexual harassment and discrimination, employment disputes, and legal malpractice. Ms. Banash also has a well established appellate practice, preparing and arguing appeals for her own clients, ghostwriting on behalf of other attorneys, and handling the appellate portions of matters litigated at the trial level by other attorneys. In addition, Ms. Banash also handles residential real estate transactions.
Since 1986, Ms. Banash has been a volunteer for The Newton Weston Wellesley Committee for Community Living, Inc., a non-profit organization which provides residential housing and services for developmentally disabled adults. Ms. Banash serves on its annual autumn auction committee and is a past member of the Board of Directors of a related real estate entity.
Since 2002, Ms. Banash has been a volunteer docent for Discovering Justice, the James D. St. Clair Court Education Project at the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. The focus of Discovering Justice is to educate the public, and middle school children in particular, as to the role of the courts in our lives and in our government. Ms. Banash conducts tours of the John Joseph Moakely Courthouse and gives lectures on the federal court, its history and operations.
Since 2007, Ms. Banash has been a corporator on the Board of the All Newton Music School, a non-profit institution which serves Newton and the Greater Boston Area as a valuable cultural resource.
