Bill graduated from Boston College in 1989 where he was a Gasson Scholar and a member of the University's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. After graduation from Boston College Law School in 1994, Bill joined Shaheen & Gordon where he has focused his practice in civil litigation and criminal defense.
Bill has extensive experience in the field of complex litigation including representing defendants in federal Multi-District Litigation. Bill's responsibilities included participating in coordination of the principal defense, managing over ten million documents for the purposes of discovery, litigation analysis and interfacing with numerous consultants and experts. Currently, Bill is pursuing a complex claim in Federal Court against the United States Government.
Bill represents clients in a variety of criminal defense matters from simple DWI cases in District Court and ALS proceedings before the Department of Safety to felony prosecutions in State and Federal Courts. Together with other members of the firm's criminal defense group, Bill has obtained favorable dispositions for clients charged with embezzlement and other white-collar crimes. One of the most satisfying cases that Bill handled involved a foreign college student facing a lengthy period of incarceration and deportation for an alleged drug offense. After a thorough investigation, Bill established at a pretrial hearing that his client was innocent of the charges and succeeded in having the case dismissed.
Bill also has an active civil practice, focusing on business, employment and First Amendment litigation. He has succeeded in obtaining fair settlements for employees who were terminated from their jobs.
A springboard to Bill's legal experience representing businesses from the "mom and pop" variety to Fortune 500 companies is Bill's background working in and managing a family owned automobile business. Bill's involvement in the business world afforded him valuable insight into the economic pressures and fiscal responsibilities facing every business in the changing economy.
Bill is licensed to practice in all State and Federal Courts in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Bill has also represented clients in jurisdictions throughout the United States. Bill is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Civil Liberties Union and the New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. In addition, to his dedication to providing aggressive, cost effective legal representation, Bill also has time to add to his extensive book and CD collection as well as work on his golf game.
