Overview
I'm from the East Coast (New Jersey and Philadelphia). Before law school I worked in commercial real estate as an asset manager and as a developer for shopping centers and office buildings. After the 2009 crash I worked on residential redevelopment projects. Growing up I loved to argue and game the rules, and I took law classes in college as part of my business degree. Working closely with lawyers in my career, I noticed that they always made money on my deals even when I didn't...

Working closely with lawyers in my career, I noticed that they always made money on my deals even when I didn't. I marveled at this power they had to tell me what I could and couldn't do in my deals, and I resolved to learn that power for myself. I fell in love with California on vacation and moved here in 2011 for law school.
I graduated from UC Davis School of Law in 2014, and passed the bar exam on the first try that fall. At the Oakland law firm of Boornazian, Jensen & Garthe, I represented general contractors in complex construction defect actions and liability insurance disputes. Later, I moved to San Jose and was trained further in real estate law and litigation at the boutique Los Gatos law firm of Sweeney Mason, LLP. In 2021, I decided to strike out on my own and practice law my way.
If you want to know a little bit more about me personally, I'm a cat person (see, e.g., the "Our Team" page).

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
