Consulted Law firm 2020This will be long and so I'll go ahead and start off with the most important aspect of this whole matter. Right before I had trial right as I was about to be called by the judge to speak to him I had unknown agents that wanted to make themselves known to me. I kid you not these guy's were breathing down my back as I was entering the court room. I'll be attaching images of who they were as I'll be following up on what took place that day. As stated, these guys were breathing down my back when I entered the courtroom. I went up to Martin at this time as any client should do if this takes place. To my surprise Martin had a smirk on his face and these guys were right besides me making threats for my coming forward in a matter where I was pressing charges. Martin didn't look the least bit displeased that this was taking place. I think it's safe to say we all read body language well and what I read was pure evil at play. Mind you this was right before my trial as were were going to be assigned a room to start trial. At this point I knew there was going to be very little I was going to be able to do to prove my innocense from what I felt was an utter set up of the system and a last minute effort into stopping me from pressing charges. I hired Martin about 2 years ago when I had a case on file that we went to trial just on December of 2020. Let me start off from what I noticed in the beggining and maybe that'll later show as to why things turned out the way they did or if in fact there was something else at play. I remember making some office visits early on in the case when he obtained it. Keep in mind when I hired Martin to represent me on this Misdeameanor case it was already 2 years sold so yea as you could see by the time Martin and I went to trial here in Ventura county for this Misdemeanor matter in December of 2020 this case was already 4 years old almost 5! I noticed early on that Martin wouldn't really pick up his phone regarding my case. And so that led me to go into his office and see what the deal was with my case. To no surprise when i'd go in he couldn't even remember my name and you could almost hear his old gears grinding in his head. As you could already tell, if he didn't remember my name he most definitely didn't remember my case and really that's what took place. I'd have to remind him who I was and what my case was about. Even more bothersome was the fact that he kept postponing my case although I had told him not too. Covid hit towards the last year of my misdeamnor casr and he kept prolonging it throughout the whole year claiming that it'd go away. Now on more than 3 pccasions I specifically would call and text him to remind him not to postpone and put rhe case over to trial if need be. Well as you probably could have guessed by now this kept happening up until late December when he did it for about the 5th time. Keep in mind that when you postpone the case you're in the loop for another 3-4 months as if you're some type of dancing monkey, and this dude did for about a whole year straight Towards the end before we went to trial Martin again failed to follow my orders to not postpone the case and to continue with trial if we needed to. Martin again postponed the case for further review and at that poing I had enough. That particular day I had court at 9am at the time of his continuance to the following month. I had enough at that point and appeared at 11am by myself to put the case on calendar for trial. When the judge asked if anybody else had a case to be heard, I simply stood up and walked over to the mic to everyone's surprise. I spoke to the judge and told him I had a 9am court date earlier that day and told him Martin against my wi

Hired Law firm 2006-2007I think this lawyer did a horrible job on my case. He got paid and didn't care about me. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
