Goldman & Ehrlich is a Chicago area employment law firm which concentrates on employment litigation and employment discrimination. We represent private employees, Federal, State, County and Municipal employees and small businesses in Chicago, the surrounding counties and southwestern Michigan in actions alleging violations of federal and state laws.

We have over 30 years of legal experience representing employees and small business employers in the greater Chicago area and southwest Michigan in Employment Law; wrongful termination, Title VII Discrimination; ADA, Sexual Harassment; Wrongful Discharge; FMLA; Whistleblowing; and Negotiating Employment and Severance Agreements, and non-compete agreements.

Our Dual perspective litigating for both public and private employees and employers benefits our clients as we can anticipate our opponent's strategies. Our clients also benefit from direct access to our partners.

We have extensive experience in trial and appellate work in Federal and State court and before Federal and State Administrative Agencies. We regularly practice before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Illinois Department of Human Rights, Merit Systems Protection Board, and before local and state civil service commissions.

We are members of the federal court trial bar and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Central and Northern District of Illinois, U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit; U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; and the United States Court of Federal Claims

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
