Overview
Roger Synenberg concentrates his practice in criminal trials and appeals and civil litigation. Roger has tried over 100 cases, including numerous white collar crime and drug conspiracy trials. He has briefed, argued, and won cases in United States Circuit Courts of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court.
Roger graduated from American University in Washington, D.C. and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a former Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio. Since 1985, Roger has specialized in criminal defense and civil litigation. He has tried numerous jury trials in state and federal courts in Ohio and other states.
Roger is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and also a Fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers. Roger earned an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell. He has been recognized every year since 2005 as an Ohio Super Lawyer for his White Collar criminal defense practice and has been rated for his criminal defense work in the prestigious Chambers USA Guide, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.
Roger's list of high profile cases include representing a serial murderer, a stock broker accused of misappropriating over $150 million, a financial planner accused of bribing the Chief Financial Officer of the Ohio Bureau of Worker's Compensation, and the defendant in the first federal death penalty case in the Northern District of Ohio in over twenty-five years.
Mr. Synenberg's civil practice has included representation of Cleveland State University and several, well-known, privately held businesses in the Northeastern Ohio area.
Roger is a life member of the United States Sixth Circuit Judicial Conference and the Eighth District Judicial Conference and numerous State and Federal Bar Associations.
Active in his community, Roger served fifteen years on the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, serving eight years as Chairman. He has been a Board Member of the Free Medical Clinic of Greater Cleveland since 1994.
In 2004, Roger and his wife Joan founded Synenberg & Synenberg, LLC. Shortly after that association began, Governor Bob Taft appointed Joan to become a Cleveland Municipal Court judge. Joan continues to serve as a Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge.
Roger and Joan live in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the father of two boys, Eric, who is a lawyer in Columbus, Ohio, and Reid, who lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
