Attorneys use to be for the people, but now they are for the courts. Being buddy buddy with the prosecutors, the judges, and the rest of the people in court looking at you, the client, as being guilty on all charges. This attorney did not even try to fight my case. He wanted to be buddy buddy with the prosecutor. He did not care if I had all of the evidence proving that I was not guilty. He did not care if I was telling the truth. He did not care to tell me he would handle my case and I did not have to drive 12 hours to court just to scare me into saying I was guilty. I would not have hired this lawyer if it was my last breath to take. I dislike people who take advantage on others and that is what this lawyer did. I would not recommend him to my closest family and friends. I would not recommend him to my enemy because this is how reckless his attitude was towards my case. Right now I am being nice with this review. The Guidelines for writing reviews would have not considered to even post my review if I really wanted to tell you how I felt.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
