Overview
For over 40 years, I've represented men and women as a Divorce Attorney in Ohio. They've been old, young, and middle-aged, and of various nationalities and races. Some have had children. Some have owned businesses. Some had worked their entire lives for a company. Others had never worked outside the home. For over 40 years, I've represented men and women as a Divorce Attorney in Ohio. They've been old, young, and middle-aged, and of various nationalities and races. Some have had children. Some have owned businesses. Some had worked their entire lives for a company. Others had never worked outside the home. As their lawyer I personally conduct a lengthy, detailed initial consultation with my clients to make sure I know all the details necessary to aggressively handle their case – be it Separation or Divorce or Dissolution. Clients frequently tell me their worries are greatly reduced after that consultation.
Based on what they tell me, and drawing on my experience and expertise as a Family Lawyer I provide a realistic assessment of the probable outcome of their case, and together we put together a strategy for protecting their interests. I emphasize it's important to look at more than just the immediate future, and so part of our strategy is to put into action a plan that addresses their financial condition five years down the road. During the same initial consultation, I give clients my best possible estimate of the costs of their case, start to finish.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
